THE COMMUNITY

We are focused  on exploring and depending Jewish identities Jews in the Desert Area eager to meaningfully explore and deepen their Jewish identities as they connect with community, despite demographic trends which might indicate otherwise, such as the high rate of interfaith marriage and the decline of formal affiliation with Jewish institutions.

 

HOW WE’RE ADDRESSING

Educating & Engagement encourages and assists Desert Area Jews to explore, strengthen and expand their communal engagement with vibrant Jewish living and learning throughout their lives. We accomplish this core mission by providing creative insight, expertise and financial resources to organizations that inspire a life-long connection to the Jewish community, make Jewish education meaningful and accessible, and deepen Jewish identity.

 

STRATEGIC INITIATIVES

  • Engaging families with young children in Jewish life through PJ Library Initiative.
  • Providing quality Jewish education through speakers’ series, programs and events.
  • Jewish Outreach, welcoming and connecting people by creating a flexible network of resources that enables everyone to find inspiration in the Jewish community.
  • The Temple-Federation Partnership, whereby Jewish life in our community is enriched and enlivened through a sustained, collaborative partnership between Temples and Jewish Federation.

Federation provides critical support to a strong network of organizations that promote Jewish education and engagement for every segment of our community:

 

PROGRAMMATIC GRANTS

Federation provides programmatic grants to sustain and expand effective programs that meet critical community needs in the community.

  •  Strengthening the full community’s participation in Jewish life
  • Strengthening local Temples.
  • Provide community with educational, cultural and leadership programs.
  • LGBT Jews in the Desert to learn how to reach and engage them most meaningfully in the Jewish community.
  • Strengthening adult Jewish education in the Desert.
  • Supporting the emerging Jewish community in Riverside County.
  • Engaging Jews through advocacy activities on issues of concern to the community at-large and building relationships and cross-cultural understanding with members of diverse ethnic and faith communities.
  • Building Jewish student leadership on UCR (Riverside) campus
